Thanks for clarifying, I'll put this explanation in the post to make it more accurate. Interesting how an intuitive guess at the cause was so far off; the true cause was more insidious and historical. Inherited cruft from an acquisition.

I work with NNs in a research context and am working on a startup commercializing some research-related NN technology. What price range were you thinking?

I'm sure there are those that disagree strongly, but I feel like this isn't as much an advance for AI as it is another interesting combination of filtered human-structured knowledge and computation power. Just as Deep Blue brute-forced ches

This is sometimes the case in computer search algorithms as well -- sometimes trying to minimize error or some heuristic of distance to the goal performs worse than just searching for things that are 'different' from previous things you've

I have to say that generative encodings are the most exciting new development of genetic algorithms. Basically, the idea is this: Typically in GAs, the genotype (the bits that make up the genome, the ones that undergo selection and recombin

Very interesting, I've done work evolving neural networks for biped walking. As far as I know, usually researchers use monolithic NNs, why did you use 22 separate NNs? I've never seen anything like that, opens my mind up to some new NN arch
