That entire video is wonderful. The segment on alternate routes (avoiding 5000m mountains, and staying below 3000m?) in case of decompression was quite interesting. Of course, in darkness and bad weather, it sounds terrifying.

Not to worry - both of my parents perked up quite a bit after my 5 sibs and I were past our teens. It was fun to watch!

Fairly common, also. Consider panning, in sports photography, where you track a player in a field while the background blurs from side to side. Also in motor sports, some nature photography, or any time a photographer wants a motion effect,

So maybe there's a lot, maybe there's not. One quote from the article, though, is so typical: “We have the concept, we have the tools, the geology. … We only need people able to invest.”

floating name tags over heads I'd have given anything for that 35 years ago. First thing on any contract job, I'd make a map of desks & names - but it always tripped me up when people slipped over to work at a different desk

I don't know how cab fares & driver pay work now, but decades ago I was told that after the driver payed the "drop fee" (iirc), he just kept the rest of the fares for the shift. Also, the driver paid for all the gas - so

My impression is, most of them want better pay. (And probably better hours, as some of these business owners wear many hats, and work very long days.)

Interesting article. Of course, the business comes with half a million dollars debt, as well. So he's sort of selling it for about $500,000. I didn't see details, but I would guess the new owner probably is required to wait a cert

I loved the 3.5 floppies too. Maybe the Star Trek TOS "book-tape" was the right idea all along. Wonder if the in-universe people were clueless where the "tape" part of the name came from?
