Oldish. I like the gradual adoption of tech instead of trying to find shiny unusual features (e.g. git reflog) and jump immediately on them.

FWIW: Some countries like Poland, don't have a special visa, but regular ones are easily available. Reasonable quick (2 months) with low legal cost.

Antitrust laws should be modernized to force oligopolies to charge reasonable fee once you became huge platform. This happened in many European countries where CC fees are less than 1%, where in USA it is 2-3%. Same as electricity is natura

Doesn't seems to be attractive price-wise. Quick math (us-east-1 North Virginia, reads, strong consistency): 1. Provisioned: $0.00013 per RCU 1 RCU provides 3,600 reads per hour 0.00013 * 1000000 / 3600 ~= $0.036 per mln reads ht

My experience from Sumo Logic is to take full advantage of RIs you need to do capacity planning and that takes some effort. Still that's way over 30% of savings which are needed if you run at scale. Would recommend using CloudHealth or

I love this. It shows that Apple can make long-term improvments (limit smartphone zonbies) even at expense of short-term gains (App Developers may suffer).

A lot of voice generation is cost-center (call center that are outsourced to cheapest location) with short sentences. I doubt industry would pay 4x price multiplier for that use-case. So in fact WaveNet competes more with voiceover and new

Not surprised given: 1. A lot of cloud services are abstracting CPU architecture. E.g. you don't care on which CPU AWS S3 runs. 2. ARM is using less power than x86. 3. ARM license fees are so low comparing to Intel high gross margins.

Ideally: 1. Use logging SaaS that takes GDPR seriously (e.g. Sumo Logic where I work). 2. Avoid logging sensitive data (e.g. log id, not the address), use joins when you can reconstruct them. 3. Keep logs with reasonable retention. 4. Use l

No data transfer fees from CloudFlare is their big competitive advantage. $0.5-0.7 GB / egress on major public clouds can be brutal. Transferring one object out of S3 cost same as storing it for 2.5 months.

Looks like a little bit cheaper than AWS Lambda@Edge which is $0.6/mln, but more than regular AWS Lambda $0.2/mln. On Lambda you pay extra for resources, but you can get more RAM or CPU there (e.g. running Chrome Headless is an op

If you have a lot of data, keeping backups for too long can be costly. But a lot of datasets are small (e.g. few GB) which makes keeping backups for really long time cheap enough. If you're datastore is small (e.g. SQL table), but supe

I wonder how that changes feasibility of running cacheless workloads against S3. So far this been a challenge in terms of performance as you can hit throughput cap fairly quickly.
