Don't worry about the tiny percentage of people who read every blog in the world. For most of the population, paper still works. A good editor could pull a great weekly off.

With a traditional publisher you usually get a royalty of about 10-15% versus 4-6 times that with print on demand. Announce publication on YC and let bloggers promote with amazon affiliate links. Everyone wins but Barnes and Noble.

I'm an Amazon Prime addict. Need I say more? You can get a brand new copy of "The Rails Way" for $18.50 less on amazon. I checked the number of customer reviews for a few different books and most Border's books have few to none while amazon

Take a look at sliding scales http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sliding_scale They likely know that any payments received from users will be worth more than a bunch of banner ads that never get clicked on.
