Why would I be kidding about any Windows installation I ever used? I was on a computer with a CPU measured in the low hundreds of megahertz and RAM measured in the low hundreds of megabytes. It was paging like crazy trying to do anything no

THANK YOU! I just kicked Solitaire's ass for the first time in at least 15 years. I couldn't remember the rules but my hands took over and it was like I was killing time at my moribund old job all over again.

I read the headline as China rather than Chia and was wondering what China was plotting to farm now. Frankly it was much more interesting than Chia bad, no Chia for you.

At least the Mach Effect thruster had a half-plausible mass/energy sort of hand-wavy theory behind it. Alas it too has slipped fully into the realm of wishful thinking... in this universe anyway.

My FLIR camera maxes out at 700 degrees, so the starting temperature is above that. After 14 hours the interior temp was still over 400, and the next day it was still over 200. I baked eggs in it 36 hours after it was last fired. The oven h

It heats up fast and is well insulated. You build a fire with kindling and 4-6 pieces of split hardwood. When the pile has collapsed into glowing embers you are good to go, maybe 1-1.5 hours.

I helped build a Forno Bravo pizza oven last summer. It makes spectacular pizza and stays hot enough to cook non-pizza dishes for several days at ever decreasing temperatures. The parts needed to be carried by boat for part of their journey

I fished a DEC printing terminal and 300 baud modem out of a dumpster and got it all working again in the mid 80s. Obsoletely fabulous for dialing up the Northern Lights BBS and it prepared me for other exciting developments in IT.
