Thanks for this - I'll update it to try and be more clear! This capture was just holding an iPhone in my hand - but you can place it on the front of a bicycle too. The Apple ARKit part handles the SLAM [1] of fusing the camera/LiD

I wrote this guide on creating orthorectified imagery using just an iPhone, using a demo on George St, Sydney! Usually this is easier with drones, but there are a lot of places you can't fly drones. I hope this guide comes in helpful,

I found this a very interesting observation: > And there’s a negativity bias. “People who have trouble finding parking always talk about it,” Grabar notes. “But people who just walk right in—or bike in—will not talk about it.” So storeow

Author here! I used the world slippy, possibly out of context, to refer to a generic map using remote vector or raster tiles. Maybe it's easier to define what I don't mean by a "generic slippy map": https://p

Hello, author here! https://safecyclingmap.com is currently using Mapbox GL JS because I wanted to tinker with the Mapbox Directions API and geocoding. It also works great with Maplibre GL JS, I've got a branch ready to go:

Thanks! That should be possible - I’ll need to try forwarding Overpass queries to a public server covering the entire world when requests are outside Aus (and make sure the traffic isn’t too high!)

This was my first time writing a vector tileserver, it’s been fascinating learning how they work. All open source and GPLv3 if you’re interested in contributing!

This is an example of why I love OpenStreetMap so much - you never know what amazing things people will use the data for once you’ve mapped it!

One of the side effect issues of scrambles is to obtain the same throughput of cars you have to may have to increase the delay in between pedestrian cycles. When only allowing pedestrians on some axis you can allow cars to run in parallel.
