Awesome! So much better than yet another "reverse this binary tree" non-question.

The problem with tech interviews is that we tend to debug candidates rather than interview them, which leads to this confrontational, almost antagonistic pop-quiz process. An interview should be a conversation - sure you're trying to as

Honest question: as someone who dropped Linux in favour of OSX largely to get a nicer user experience, what is in the new generation of Linux desktops to tempt me back? The videos linked from the article show a Spaces'esk virtual desktop an

+1 for TaskPaper. A brilliant piece of attuned, economical UI design.

Looks very cool but are there particular advantages over, say, Scribe over FreePastry ( http://www.freepastry.org/SCRIBE/default.htm )? How does routing efficiency compare?

"About Face" by Alan Cooper is far-and-away the best book I've read on interaction design. Don Norman's books are also worth a read (though more difficult to immediately apply to creating software). For general visual design "The Non-Design

My point is that, as you’ve ably demonstrated, there are innumerable sites I can go to to indulge in juvenile tech tribalism. OSNews used to be a cut above these sites but it doesn’t seem to be any more. I think that’s a shame. With regard

What happened to OSNews? I remember it being a pretty good tech news site a while back but now it seems that every day there's another over-written, hyper-ventilating, peanut-gallery-baiting "opinion piece" like this. Good for selling ad im

Jesus wept, it's a _joke_ for christ's sake. And I find it far preferable, and far more human, than the insufferably superior tone of this blog post.
