A lot of those pure places to share are all still there. They just don't pay Google to be in the centralised Internet club and somewhat stay in the shadows to avoid being bombarded with litigation bs. Becoming mainstream is usually a d

Its true. Unity kind of took its place in the game space. Web pages - nothing. They're all using some boring non visual JS library.

Is it strange that they made a whole bunch of thick clients for what should have been a browser based product? Least they made a Linux client, good on em. Edit. Read more, I get the clients now. Wow. Its so rare to see products think about

Yeah, I actively resist it. Running old versions of products that I own. I'm 100% on Linux now running pretty much everything on Wine which seems to be more compatible than Windows if you're going down this path. Nothing good has

Which part is disconnected from reality? Google is a horrible search engine, you routinely have to hack it to get searches not linking to the centralised web. The first 5 results are ads, followed by Youtube links or a Quora/Reddit on

So is Kagi a stand alone search engine or is it like every other Google alternative that just pays Bing for API use?

Yep, also a lot just migrated some components to more suitable languages but the for the most part remained Ruby. You can scale anything if architected right. You can't make languages fast and fun to write in if they aren't that t

Sorry should have clarified - Messaging products. Facebook/Meta is what most people use. Be it FB Messenger/WhatsApp/Insta etc. Google have nothing in their own ecosystem people use.

Any. You're describing the trolley problem which is silly. The car should be traveling at a speed where it can break and stay in its lane to avoid any at fault accident. Nothing more, nothing less.

There is something to the aerodynamics of cars today, though unlikely the main driver. When I've towed a caravan it picks up a lot of bugs while the windscreen is relatively clean the entire trip. I drive a 7 year old vehicle.

I think what made Skype popular was it worked everywhere and was quite good at bypassing firewalls/DPI. It was everyone's goto as it had a high chance of success especially in schools/uni. CGNAT could be another explanation.
