If this works, and is stable and reliable long term, it may show that the moat for big tech software applications is crumbling. I think the key will be whether these home coded apps take advantage of open source to thrive, or whether they w

LOL, I built my own local client based on the Replicate AI yesterday. Not as fancy as this though. :)

hf.co/bartowski/deepseek-ai_DeepSeek-R1-0528-Qwen3-8B-GGUF:Q6_K is a decent performing model, if you're not looking for blinding speed. It definitely ticks all the boxes in terms of model quality. Try a smaller quant if you n

This looks really well done. I particularly like the simple user interface. A lot of the time these things are unnecessarily complex I feel.

Great idea. One suggestion might be to offer users a toggle between the square Recent Backstories cards and a much more condensed and easy to scan line by line river of news? Maybe even categorized? But great job anyway, so thanks.

Nice idea. Hope it gets traction because it's sorely needed at the moment. It's not just about misinformation, it's all the horrendous clickbait.

Really interesting from a 'in a bubble' point of view. I've been using Void for the past few weeks as a replacement for Bolt, Lovable, Tempo and the rest. Which is nothing like the use cases mentioned in this thread. Just sho

I hate to be that guy, but how many of us are actually paying for this service? Yeah we pay with ads and attention, but is there another company that's prepared to store over 500 hours of new content every single minute? Yeah it sucks,

That's weird. I just learned about a new music generation model called Lyra today, based out of Luxembourg. What's the odds on a similar sounding name in the same field appearing in the same week? I've got to say I don't

That's a crummy quote to be honest. Not everybody has the ability to be creative on their own, so AI can help expand the demographic of creativity to those who may not have the basic skills. In the same way that word-processors help th

His quantum mechanics lecture on YouTube at the Royal Society I think, is a masterpiece. Some very interesting facts, mostly about what we don't know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNVQfWC_evg

Not a cat's chance in hell that any eu organisation will rush to this offer right now. Or maybe ever in fact.

DeepSeek is pretty darn good. Much less flowery and more on point. At least in Sci-Fi.

Love the idea. You're going to need to get traction though. Or are you? I guess the only problem is if you decide it's not growing enough and shut it down. Why not open source a version to encourage adoption by wary folk?

Good question. Do you need OCR too, or just file recognition? Models like Granite are pretty good for simple OCR in a tiny footprint, but not punchy enough for serious work.

Great article. Strangely enough The Third Wave changed my life completely. Read it in one sitting, enthralled by this incredible vision of the future, and then and there pivoted my life completely towards computing. Simple reason - it was t

I suspect the first big impact of vibe coding will be in the smaller, open source utilities arena. Then as the tools get better, they will be increasingly adopted by more mainstream software creators.
