Firefox OS predates the 'F' acquisition of 'W' by about a year, right? Did that have anything to do with it, in your opinion?

I think “trade winds” is better analogy than “super highway”.

I fiddled with it again last night and found that enabling “Ultra Fast Boot” fixed the boot issue I was having. I think I disabled it when I was doing some Hackintosh silliness. My Ethernet is working again too, for some reason.

You keep posting this link in this thread. The pricing on the stand and wheels is the definition of B2B.

FWIW I’m having trouble installing Windows on my AMD B450 system where Linux also runs fine. It locks up during the boot process after the first reboot.

How cool would it be if we had probes like Hayabusa or Osiris-Rex ready to go for encounters like this? ʻOumuamua would have been a long shot but this rock seems within reach.

I wish it were so. Apple has no reason to allow other operating systems on its devices because macOS and iOS are gateways to their massive array of paid services.

It certainly still does some JIT/interpretation at runtime but it does indeed translate the executable upon first launch.^1 I can’t imagine how it would be able to fully translate a browser JavaScript engine that’s doing its own JIT, f

Unity and Unreal already run on iOS so tons of games built on those engines should work well.

At 9:15 of the keynote they claim that the "high-efficiency" cores are as powerful as the outgoing dual-core MacBook Air's cores. Seems pretty good to me.

They did the exact same thing with the A12X and the A12Z. 7-core vs 8-core GPU is the only real difference between them.

I was going to mention this. The point is that Apple and AMD buy more wafers. It’s rumoured that Nvidia’s deal with Samsung was for working dies, not total wafers.
803.
by jagger27 6y ago
I’m not convinced that Nvidia having the biggest die size is a particularly important metric here. It’s obvious to me that TSMC would rather produce tiny Apple chips and AMD Zen chiplets to for yield and wafer space efficiency. We all know

by jagger27 6y ago
If Nvidia was such a key partner for TSMC then why did they get priced out of 7nm? Nvidia made some huge chips on 16nm and 12nm, no doubt. I’m not so sure the transistor count comparison is all that meaningful though. Maybe compare the wafe
