It was really surreal. They called me on my personal cellphone and accused me of not giving Carleton quote "a fair shake" with my criticism. I was venting on the subreddit, like many others. The teaching staff was not prepared for

Same username as here. I criticized their Covid-19 response right at the beginning. I have a rather unique first name so I suppose that’s how they tracked me down.

Carleton University in Ottawa got in touch with me about comments I made on its subreddit last year. That did not sit right with me.

The places I’ve worked had lots of elegant and obvious solutions to shoulder surfing. Mirroring to a big TV was something we did all the time. I find Zoom in particular to be a crude place to get this type of work done. Why do I have to sen

All of those things are also possible in person. Of course I just send an instant message to my coworker across the hall. And I don’t clutter Slack when I want to make lunch plans.

Where on Earth do you have to pay $1000/mo for a gym membership? I find condo fees staggeringly hard to justify.

I don’t think they are very comparable. This is still very much a conventional supercomputer despite the marketing. Here’s a fun comparison of total silicon wafer space used. A Cerebras die is 46,255 mm^2. 1,500 Milan 64-core CPUs * 8 compu

I'm sorry, do you think you're being "intellectually explorative" with unsubstantiated statements like "atheism is for the mediocre mind"?.

It runs pretty well on a Pentium 4. I wrote the Starfield screensaver for Serenity (poorly) and it pegs the P4, for what it's worth. It's runs great in QEMU on any modern CPU.

Alright it's clear you're only here to rile people up. Not sure why you think that's appropriate here.

This is the version I'm familiar with: God, grant me the Serenity To accept the things I cannot change... Courage to change the things I can, And Wisdom to know the difference.

10W definitely matters on servers. You can easily have a dozen of these in 1U. 120W isn’t nothing to dissipate. I wonder what node this controller is made on. If it’s made on TSMC N7 then they could cut power consumption roughly in half by

I'm sure some would appreciate the shade. Most "free-range" chickens actually live in big enclosed warehouses so they might appreciate some fresh air under solar panels. Grazing animals probably wouldn't work very well.

I think four bins of below average, slightly below average, slightly above average, and above average would be reasonable. It would show how many people think they fit into the interquartile range versus the extremities.
