This looks really nice - are you planning to support other OS, like Android, WP or Blackberry?

I agree with you. This company has done some bad stuff and I kind of like that their dirty secrets get dragged into the light.

No need to apologize, this is not only an interesting topic and problem, but also a very good discussion. Thanks for bringing that up, might it be ok if I use your question to build around it and see what it is like for non US-websites?

I would through so much money in Blizzards direction if they'd release HD versions of WC 1, 2 and 3.

Ok, so: The RCS software from Hacking Team is basically a Remote Access Trojan, right? As it says in the description: "It is a tool for taking control of the endpoints, that is, the PCs" [0] So they already have control over the s

But California could be ready for this, right? I mean it would make sense to build cisterns or something to collect the water and use it for the next drought? Or would that take too much foresight?

thank you guys for all the feedback so far. I think I'll stay with wordpress for another year and re-evaluate after that.

Yes, I agree. But I try to have as few plugins as possible (since they give attackers a broader target, imho), so it might be possible to work around that.

Good luck. Kinko.me tried the same approach and sadly, there wasn't enough interest to fund it.

No problem. Yes, that might appeal to law enforcement, even if their intentions are good. It would be interesting to compare the benefits to other programs, like raising the amount of patroling police etc.

That makes sense. I've seen something similar on the TV show "Flashpoint", mobile microphones/sensors were used to triangulate the position of a sniper iirc. This obviously makes sense, if you have the manpower to react

I was more under the impression that the gun violence is not really so high as to justify a constant monitoring system to watch out for (especially if you need a person to look over the reports and then alert law enforcement - I get the fee

As far as I see it you waste money that could be better used in staffing police, implementing social programs etc - this thing is a solution to a very tiny problem: gunshots that are not reported via emergency calls. As far as I can see thi

Right? I thought that was just something from TV/Movies - this looks more like they are selling fear than something real. Why would a city invest in something like this? Especially if you get the information via emergency calls?

Wait - what? There are so many guns fired in US cities that a company can build a sustainable business creating a system that spots these gunshots?

I was at Defcon that year, the Ninjas did a real cool job. I got to play around with one of the phones a little, the UI and the interface was really nice - i'd love to see this as an actual UI. Plus, the party was spectacular, as far a

I can see why they should get a cut - they provide not only a very moddable game but also pretty good tools. I would be ok if Bethesda has an incentive to design their future games with modding capabilities in mind. But they should not get
