Lol, where do you get that from? That logic won't take you far in a courtroom. Children have the same basic human rights you have, you can't violate their privacy just because you own something they use.

He didn't say it's sufficient, he said OOP can do the work (lots of examples) while FP can't (he asked for examples, since we don't have any).

So how should you program the capslock? You (the functional guys) keep telling me what's wrong, but you don't tell me how to do it right. Not having a capslock key is not an option, people need it.

Does it make sense to have to learn Haskell and a Haskell framework just to understand Clojure? Because I'm already sold on the idea that Clojure is the best language™, being a lisp, portable, with a great community, already with a mat

As someone who still doesn't get functional programming, I would like to see a real-world example of how to deal with side effects. Eg: write something into a file or a DB. Because of course methods/functions with no side effect

I didn't read the article but I saw a documentary on the subject. It said that they take over because the reproduce like rabbits, can live everywhere (in the sea), and kill anything they come across. It's not something we caused,

PHP is fantastic, it's definitely the best web platform if you want to actually get things done. Having said that, learning a language's syntax is not the same as learning programming (or web development). If you are serious about

Then why haven't you left already? As someone who has done this years ago, I can only recommend it. The longer you stay, the harder it will be. And next time you want to start using a product, first ask yourself: Could they keep me pri

You have been downvoted, lol. This is the stupid HN system at work: Someone who doesn't understand English being a native speaker (simple vs simpler) can downvote you because he has "earned" that right, by submitting a gazill

I know all this, but I still don't think it's any harder than other languages. I have been following Meteor since the beginning, but I'm not impressed anymore to be honest. Seeing the video for the first time was quite shocki

Folks who bought in April will be early adopters and will see incredible profits too if they don't panic sell. It's a matter of logic. Like I said, it can go to 0 or +inf.

What is this, another reddit meme that will be repeated until the end of the internet? Bitcoin can only go to zero or +inf. Past performance is a way to show what haters are losing every year for denying Bitcoin.

Bubbles? We are at $120 currently. So the only "bubble" is always the last one. I used logarithmic scale to make the x10 increments more obvious.

Like it has been said a gazillion times already, you can get paid in USD if you want to (using Bitcoin behind the scenes). You get the same benefits as a merchant (no chargebacks, easy implementation, ridiculously small fees, countries: All

I was talking about fraud, which is a lot broader than "I bought something on Amazon and something went wrong". If you fall into a ponzi scheme, a credit card won't save you. About chargebacks, again, it's a US and Austr

It's a new currency that is not artificially stabilized by any government, so it's only natural that it has some wild fluctuations. If you don't like big gains just avoid holding BTC and you'll be fine.

Remember that "chargebacks for everyone, no questions asked" is a US and Australia-only thing. In most other places it's not very common (you need to go premium for that), and Bitcoin would be more than welcome to reduce fees

How exactly am I gonna lose my money with Bitcoin? It has been there for many years, and it has grown x20. My dollars, on the other hand, have only devalued each year. There's no scam, if there's no scammer. Think about it.
