Seems like a very narrow mindset. Why would they assume coffeescript won't adapt to ES6? CoffeeScript compiler can change quickly while maintaining backwards compatibility. ES6 standards move at a snails pace. There's other perfectly valid

It's sort of a strange thing. An app like this should have the easiest horizontally scalable backend ever. Each user has no overlap whatsoever with other users (unlike more complex sharded instances like ebay, facebook, and every other soci

Writing is the easy part (stuff like zencoding tools help with this). But reading and grokking mountains of HTML code gets difficult for some people (me). That's when these templating languages are a lifesaver.

My favorite feature is implicit Ember actions and bound attributes. http://emblemjs.com/syntax/#implicit-bind-attributes That feature alone made my Ember templates vastly more readable.

Similar syntax. Emblem.js compiles to Handlebars to make it ideal to use for client side templating and Ember.js

Actually, Handlebars.js is a 2 step process. First step is compiling the syntax to something the runtime can understand, and the other is actually executing at runtime. Emblem.js just replaces the first step of that process. So technically

Exactly. Emblem.js is for people who love Haml / Slim / Jade and want to use that style of templating with Handlebars.js

It's a big investment, but also huge potential rewards. Bungie is aiming for their own World of Warcraft type recurring profits (most likely micro-transaction based). I wouldn't bet against them.

Really hoping EmberJS gets this feature as well. It's possible now (with some fancy hacks), but I've read they plan to bake it into the framework (along with tight rails integration). Basically it just comes down to generating the initial v

A web form that outputs a fully filled out PDF. This could definitely have many uses in both business and government.

Rejoice of course! Would be really nice to still have the option of not wrapping of course, but distributing some apps via Gems is a nice feature too.

Best feature of Padrino: multiple apps! https://speakerdeck.com/daddye/padrino-framework-0-dot-11-an... Having to deal with the jankiness of Rails engines on a daily basis (on a client project), this feature would have been a life saver.

When they say gems, I would have to assume they mean rails engines since they mentioned they are using it to package up assets as well. I've been using the same pattern. It works ok, but still feels clunky. ∞ bundle update. dev mode reloadi

Yep, we'd love to expand to additional languages frameworks in the future. We'll need a core maintainer for each new gallery (we're not PHP guys) but I would happy to help set things up.

Agreed on Backbone. It's awesome, but have had transition to Ember as I take on more complex UI frontend work. Trek summed it the best I could hope for: http://trek.github.com/

That doesn't seem correct either. Extremes at either end are where entrepreneurs tend to live. Most people have to be willing to be poor, lose everything, and fail miserably in order to have a chance to be rich and live the life they want.

Yep, HN is one of the few places to get honest (read: harsh!) feedback from smart people to help improve a very early stage product. Thanks again to everyone!
