Wow, I have a lens with noticeable Focus Shift. I thought it was just some mechanical play in the mechanism, but Today I Learned it's a Thing.

Some of the smallest plastic lenses have geometries and optical properties which are impossible to make in glass or in larges plastic pieces. So smaller lenses don't have only disadvantages to them. (Even though I myself personally rat

Wow, that matches my experience - but I thought I had just developed a more refined taste. Golden and Red are almost and completely inedible to me, respectively.

Still super interesting. My (completely flawed) intuition was that the blood would be fried useless by any dosage enough to kill bacteria!

Since 1980 or so, the caste system is on a return. Not in rhetoric, but in outcome. "Social mobility" is down, down, down in the US.

I have heard reasoning that c-section babies could benefit from having some given to them.

The reason for not doing that has been stated time and again earlier - they worry about endurance. We will have to keep up with modified behaviour for a long time, and overdoing it may compromise endurance.

Swede here - I get the feeling we trust our citizen and government response enough to not generally call for a hard lockdown. Some wanted elementary schools closed. Almost nobody is happy about how the elderly care works - but almost everyo

That interviewed person is from a local party in a small municipality. Very fringe. Of course the US right tries to score points from the lack of a hard lockdown here. But I wonder how well that would have worked without universal healthcar

He is not a general to order that by decree. He can only urge actors to act appropriately.

Can say the same for Sweden. Somehow it also had this change at the same time.

I knew about Echelon in 1998, but nobody I talked to would believe a word of it. (Or rather, I "knew" what other people ranted about on web pages with badly scanned photos of satellite dishes. But still.)

They just like to point it out. :-D I suppose they are afraid someone would take them for a Swede, that'd be embarrassing.

Ah, there was some C64 software which used the CPU (same as in the C64) in the diskette drive for something. :)

Sounds crazy - even if it was something in the blood, if you are oxygen starved, how can it be worse to flush your lungs with pure oxygen than not?

When you control the mint, it's basically the same thing. Doubly so when its the USD and the rest of the world has exactly the same problem you do, so you hardly need to worry about the depreciation vs other currencies. (Even if you

The tally is not properly done yet. There is still great difference in how deaths are counted between countries. For instance, Italy mostly counted dead at hospitals. In Sweden, if someone dies, it's up to the doctor in charge to call

Yes, analogies only go so far, especially in domains which are new or evolving. Which is why I added the sentence about literally wet neurons. That said, its not without precedent, these things my geeky brain found very interesting: http:&

People will not be educated because they see right past “truth” and look for their “group” or “tribe”. Like a deeper truth. (Autocorrect suggested deeper trump.)

I have heard great things about people over there. And I think you’re going to win; you've got these Senators, these jobs have virtually disappeared, an embarrassing commitment to the White House and the Old Post Office. I couldn’t car

If we are going by analogy, that would be more like plugging the USB camera directly into your CPU bus instead of USB. Your eye is a fine interface. Messing with the literally wet neural interface sounds very complicated.

Yes, good candidates. Come back to "block chain" and "version control" every other year, that would be just about right.
