I guess there's nothing super-wrong with posting links like this, my surprise was more that it got so many upvotes.

I guess I can now sympathize with everyone who complained about too many econ/politics/non-ruby/xyz posts to HN. Front page story about a suggested change from 'RT' --> '♺' on twitter? If I had less faith in HN I would label this a jump

This writing in this article reminds me of the science fiction Charles Stross writes. It has lots of interesting points on enterprise IT versus web 2.0, but imho would have been a better read if it was a little bit more straightforward.

I remember hearing stories in undergrad about code written on paper and mercilessly reviewed so that it would work perfectly the first time it was compiled. Can't remember the specifics and may have been an urban legend -- but this is the c

Why post a TechCrunch article syndicated at the Washington Post instead of the original ( http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/01/01/the-problem-with-twply-... )? Also, the whole thing seems like a super tempest in a teapot: 1) There's some twitt

Since no one knows who you and your friends are, you could easily be the NSA, right? It seems to me that when launching a security/privacy service you should make an effort to explain why people should trust you.

Also they're getting the dev unlocked version of the phone which is $400, not $180... a lot of subpar reporting on this, giz isn't alone in having the facts wrong.

It seems to me like you get much better bandwidth talking about books by meeting in person. Do internet book clubs work?

It is not clear to me whether you should date lots of girls, or just know lots of girls who you could date if your current relationship falls apart. I think I agree when it comes to clients and investors, but in terms of major technical (or

There are some interesting questions about net neutrality that shouldn't be dismissed off the bat, but "google doesn't pay their fair share" isn't one of them. Internet connectivity and bandwidth are now largely commodities, and hence not a

This is a deep question; I think the answer is a mix of economics and philosophy. Depending on how interested you are, consider maybe "History of Western Philosophy" by Bertrand Russell.
