Yep these two places are very common to be swipe only. I have to go a human teller at <massive and famous hospital> to pay for parking and the cc machine will still only read swipes.

Short and fat--never a smoker. Still collapsed my right one and then the left one a week later. The doctors said they'd never seen that (bilateral in such a short timespan with no apparent cause) and had no idea what could be causing i

I agree. I live in Boston and winters are oppressive in large part because sunset is at 4:30 (or earlier). For Boston at least, I strongly feel we should just move to Atlantic time and just bite the bullet on the difficulties this causes wi

This particular passage reminds me of the anti-example in Strunk & White about "Avoid[ing] a Succession of Loose Sentences."[0] I know others have pointed out that the article's point is about those with intellectual or l

I've only been using desktop Linux for 15 years, but it is vastly easier to use it as a daily driver than it used to be. It still has its problems--just yesterday I sunk an hour into an elusive bug. But when I was doing that, I remembe

When I came to a more "apostolic" branch of Christianity from a more "evangelical" branch, my own baptism was somewhat suspect because there had been a separation of matter and form. (The words were said and then I was b

What makes a good treadmill good? Genuinely curious as I've (in my limited experience) only ever seen them intermittently used a handful of times and then forgotten about. My dad used to buy up used ones for a pittance for their motors

I find `sudo killall -9 zoom` seems to work to stop this. That may be overkill but was just the first thing to occur to me. But I'll probably just sandbox it into my windows VM whenever I bother to set up passthrough on my camera.

Different from the person you replied to, but my wife is also autistic, and she does the exact same thing (both needing for me to ask for her attention multiple times and not hearing anything for the first little bit if I don't get it)

Just to piggyback on this, the source code for the BSD utils is eminently readable and simple, almost always more so than the equivalent GNU options. I understand that there are reasons for this, and I'm obviously very grateful for all

I live outside Boston just barely out where walking to the subway is infeasible (30min walk). But, it's only $2 or $7 to park at the T station and take the train in. This is a win-win for me, if I feel the desire/need to go into B

Honest question (I am totally ignorant about these things): If you did this, would you be able to accept patches from the community on the open core? Or would releasing your proprietary code violate the GPL of the coder who sent the patch?
