They have a union and an agreement with the union. To change it, they have to negotiate. That’s how unions work.

Yeah haha I just thought 100 hours a week was a bit much and we could all agree on that

Yeah and what’s more you’re contributing more to society, whether or not you can measure it in money. You have some spare time and energy to help your family, your neighbors, the person you see once a week. I want to live in a society where

It's generally held up as the standard codebase that you can go read to learn how to write "good C", so community consensus appears to be yes.

Corporations have all sorts of special legal protections, on top of being the very thing (centers of capital) that the entire structure of government is meant to protect. Individuals do not (unless backed by a corporation).

The most interesting one I ran into is a doctor I had, who thought “WhatsApp isn’t really encrypted, right?”

I really don’t think this is true. A significant number of non-engineers I talk to about encryption genuinely think it’s some sort of scam.

They’ve already trained consumers that higher speeds cost more. They would need a compelling reason to keep costs the same after increasing speeds.

They put DISH under a consent decree. Despite the low size of the fine, I expect the long term cost to DISH will be enormous. Consent decrees are no joke.

I have some beef with the methodology for excluding analyses from the lit review. If authors being from “obscure institutions” is a problem, then so too should authors employed by companies that manufacture aspartame or funded by compani

Strongly not my experience. The tooling at meta was so good compared to my previous 5 jobs that I left with changed opinions about the tradeoffs of investing in tooling.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Concerta (osmotic time release) is so much more effective than normal generics (non-osmotic time release) that they shouldn’t even be considered the same drug.

I think what you’re missing here is that generics are already approved with pretty large deviations in e.g. serum response from the underlying approved drug, but without re-testing. So the current system is already producing bad-for-consume

You are incredibly wrong about this. Consent for data processing is the meat & potatoes of both GDPR and the largest enforcement actions that have happened through it. The delete button revoked consent.

If you remember it from your brain and perform it live, that’s perfectly fine. So there’s a line to be drawn somewhere and I don’t think it’s super clear cut in most cases.
