Yes these platforms seem like rippoff. You pay for connects and most proposals aren't even read. Then if you do land work, you pay a % to the platform. Seems to me like it should be one or the other not both.

Half of the point of code review is to provide expert or alternative feedback to junior and other developers, to share solutions and create a consistent style, standard and approach. So no, code is not just code.

We should be worrying more about a possible failed state that has 1000s of nukes.

Isn't the main problem that the kitchens are shared and the restaurants are just popup brands with no loyalty built up? I don't think you need an actual sit-down location to succeed, but you do need full control over what you pr

I've also seen flywheels used locally. It just makes much more sense to have a big battery where the local substation is, than for everyone to install megawatts of battery individually.

I believe Cambodia is another case where the government is directly involved. The question is are there any effective interventions, short of war (which, happened), given that.

Was that not just a power grab? There is a more recent conflict over this issue in Cambodia. I'm thinking more targeted interventions. International organizations and so on. Failing that, maybe accidentally short the xformer supplying

I'm sure it would be much more cost-effective to have community storage, rather than individual storage, and it would balance the load a lot if some users used more power during th day than at night. I think it's called a 'gr

Are there not some more direct interventions? I know of a building housing one of these. Obviously they pay the local police and have cover so just filing a complaint or whatever is not an option.

Yes you are right, the people and the authorities should be better informed. The problem is that these kinds of laws tend to be one-way streets. Once systems are in place, they are hard to remove, so there should be some protection against

Just ridiculous how authorities are perservering with this. The ruling should come with a timeout period; they're not allowed to try anything similar again for 20 years or whatever, and even then only if circumstances have changed.

I think many people don't want to pay anything, but I think a part of that is that it's still just a big hassle to pay online, and that's doubly true if they have to get corporate approval or whatever. It seems like a free tr

It's really not, when you have an ORM, eg with Rails (point #3). Automatic conversion between singular and plural can be a real problem, so just eliminate the problem and stick with singular throughout, so your object names match table

Today is UNESCO's International Literacy Day, and this year's theme is digital literacy. Quite ironic to choose this day to start trying to make an entire nation digitally illiterate.

You seem to be saying 15 years experience means you should have a network that will be good for jobs, so why bother applying to ads? What if you recently changed specialization, or moved city or even country? What if it's been a few ye

I think you're describing getting jobs via networking. That's a different thing to applying to 'public' jobs ads, which often have an AI discard most applications, then they just throw 50% in file 13, filter another 50%
