I'm always open to self-induced change. There was a time I tried every window manager on X11 and it was fun but now I have found my place and I'd like to stay there. When the UI-change is just for the worse and it disrupts me in

I wish they would bring back simple directory bookmarks instead of these "smart" links that detect when I rename the target directory (so annoying!) and that you can't even give a display name. After upgrade to Win10 I sudde

Whenever I hear of a new UI design for software I use, I'm terrified. I seriously can't remember a case when that was good news. From Win95 to Gnome to KDE - they never became better. Just more colorful and more resource hungry.

I also can't use magit because of this. I thought the poor performance came mostly from my big repository with lots of binary files but now I 'git-filter-repo'ed the .git-directory from 2-3 GB (packed) down to 150 MB and mag

Tip for web designers: Either have infinity-scrolling OR a page footer at the bottom, not both.

Level? Sorry I don't know midi at all. I sent you the file (it also plays very slow). In this case I don't even need the missing notes. That would just be more complicated :)

Great, I'd appreciate that setting very much. And also thanks for the midi files. I missed visiting the gitlab link, do you mean there should be a direct link to the midi-directory? I can't find that.

And what about fingerprinting? What is this good for if you can be tracked so easily anyway? At least cookies give you some control. The alternative seems worse.

Argh - I kept on reading because I didn't get the memo that activex isn't a thing anymore... HN should have a mandatory date-field for submissions. Not the first time I fell for that.

Does this make much of a difference? My impression was that we already lost against fingerprinting and browser vendors keep adding more and more feature crap which makes it only worse.

I would love to play random EXE files from the internet but I don't think that's the way to go. Open source would be more trustworthy.
