Your “Imagine…” hypothetical is literally how I run my iPhone. I don’t need piles of icons cluttering up my screen. I can pull down and type 1-2 characters and get any app on my phone, easily. More room for glanceable, informational widge

A realization that I came to today is the fact that I’m still on my 12 because it’s (one of the?) last PRODUCT(RED) one. The Sage Air has my eye. Would match my AirPods Max. But that orange pro is also calling.

When the system is dominated by the majority, and has been for a long time, a correction requires being “discriminatory against the majority”. “The system” itself was incorrect before. This is why it’s called systemic racism/sexism

I know HN is gonna downvote me into oblivion for this, but… I’m a cis-het white dude, a this rings true for me: “When you’ve been in the majority for a long time, equality can feel like oppression.” Just because a system desires proportiona

By “not a sudden interruption” I meant something getting cut off mid word . Also, the AP Style guide is hardly relevant when it comes to most writing—especially creative writing.

The real AI tell for me is that it—generally speaking—spaces them incorrectly. An em dash that’s not a sudden interruption shouldn’t have any spacing around it.

Didn’t we “let the market decide” and the market drowned out every other player but Apple and Google? Why did so many people pick iPhone or Android over their prior competitors? Because the developers wrote software there. Why did the devs

Why the carve-out for plagiarism? And how does an LLM reciting all or part of a work verbatim not qualify as plagiarism?

AI isn’t programmed to have emotions. Merely to replicate a semblance of a simulacrum of said sensations. Regardless of your considerations for the electrical signals, the models are just tab-completion, ad infinitum .

As someone who was recently in NYC for a conference, I found the subway system very easy to navigate in the 21st century. It was pretty cool to not need any cabs or cars at all, for a whole week. The Transit app makes it trivial to naviga

Other way around. The masses aren’t interested in force-multiplying tools. They only want to buy force-eliminating tools. They don’t want to work smarter or harder. They don’t want to work at all.
