"Exchanging goods and services for money to a locale" is not a colonial model. I, a strawberry farmer in Florida, should have no obligation to create an office of locals in every geographic location I sell strawberries in.

ssh the protocol doesn't imply any privileges of any kind

I don't think this website is implying there was a 'problem' per se. In fact it seems to be geared towards helping resurrect the original premises

Salvatore, how did you pick up the requisite background knowledge on this subject? IIRC this is your first OSS project in the ML domain, just curious if/how much Claude was helpful with providing you with domain expertise while buildin

As it so happens Rob Pike performed absolutely 0 tradeoff analysis

I think it's incredibly obvious how it connects to his "argument" - nothing he complains about is specific to GenAI. So dressing up his hatred of the technology in vague environmental concerns is laughably transparent. He and

Did Google, the company currently paying Rob Pike's extravagant salary, just start building data centers in 2025? Before 2025 was Google's infra running on dreams and pixie farts with baby deer and birdies chirping around? Why are

I didn't notice a negative tone at all when he talked about the firmwares being publicly hosted. You did?

Filip, do you plan to support building the kernel with fil-c? What's the limiting factor right now on supporting that?

I've also noticed Claude "running away" and doing a bunch of work I never asked it to do.

How much control does a language runtime have over whether the memory controller actually zeros out physical memory? My guess is very little on consumer hardware but happy to be wrong

How many people would you guess were arrested last year for online posts?

There was one: "100% rust Linux kernel upstreamed"

similarly IIRC, on (some generations of) x86 chips, NOP is sugar around `XCHG EAX, EAX` which is effectively a do-nothing operation

by jabedude 11mo ago
Does this actually translate into any kind of probability of a manufacturer making a device with this chip?

Absolutely: https://github.com/jabedude/sshfs

A kernel extension-less sshfs for macOS. I tried using FSKit and got halfway before I felt too constrained by the extension security model (must be app sandboxed, must be approved by the user in system settings). Now it’s just a standalone

Where is the compute node source code?

Heh, this is super interesting to hear. Single threaded async/concurrent code is so fun and interesting to see. I’ve ran some tokio programs in single threaded mode just to see it in action

Question for the experts in the field: why does this need to be a CPU and not a dongle you plug into a server and query?

That's not the only granularity of mixed text. A Chinese textbook about the Japanese language will have sentences where the languages are mixed

That doesn't help in a mixed Chinese-Japanese document
