How else would you say a 3rd party library had a bug under heavy load? 1. You don't want a defamation lawsuit your way. 2. If it was vendor code, you have a contract that may be under a NDA. 3. If it was a vendor, lawyers, lots and lot

Natural gas may be cheap but the cost of the meter and other admin fees cost about as much as the gas.

The internet itself is not properly tuned and distance is an issue. On a local lan, sure a TCP tuned system will do amazing. On the public internet where who knows where your packet is going it's an optimal but not tuned system with la

Also important servers should also go lower in the rack, but not too low to flood. Learned that from an aircon failure and the top server hit 180F+ and shutdown. Thankfully had temp logs in Grafana to figure that out.

I have some vendor webhooks that spike to above this number for 30 minutes at a time, multiple times a day. They use UUIDs for the event id you are supposed to use for event deduplication.

Plaid does have OAUTH for some banks to make it more reliable. Not a Plaid employee, just a dev completing their OAUTH approval form.

The .NET community started their own version and included some other languages. I think I saw Rust at 1.4s or so but was disqualified because it was optimized to that dataset (no idea how they determined that). Someone wrote some SIMD code

Depends on the contract and the attack size. Sometimes the DC has to pick all it's other customers over trying to handle a DDoS for one. Our DC had an issue where packets over 1492bytes were being dropped in Chicago by one transit prov

It's not a password, it's an API Key. A GUID is 16 bytes represented as 36 characters with hypens but we consider those secure. Even Stripe's private keys are kinda short but their restricted keys are not.

It sounds like this required both local access AND a Active Directory Domain Administrator account (which should have triggered EDR at some point) which is the end game anyway. They just managed to hop out of the AD environment to a non-ad

We host in a datacenter and sending from their IPv4 or our own /24 IPv4 block has no issue. We also have the volume to keep things going as well to build up the reputation.

Database isolation levels is a multi-threaded problem, you have to apply the same semantics to your database as you would your code. If you don't want "phantom reads", then lock the whole table, which is bad. So maybe don

C# needs them to use them in their own frameworks. GC'd languages has a benefit that Strings can work different then C strings and you get things like interning to reduce memory usage. Now C#(dotnet) took it a step further and put in a
