I'm trying to remember what all I used to run from a single 360k DOS floppy on a 640k 8088. I had at least DESQView, QEdit (which might be the editor you're thinking of), and a VT100 emulator.

I'm struggling with this idea right now. Some background: I was laid off recently and am torn between getting another coding job or trying to build a business. I'm a bit older, married with kids, and only have about 9 months of savings read

I've been thinking for a while that the next phase of my career might be as a "gamification expert". I enjoy Foursquare, Gowalla, etc. and have a reasonable amount of interest in game theory, game design and mechanics, and psychology. But w

We've been without cable TV for years. Any time I talk to people about cutting their cable TV the only objection is live sports.

My vote is to go with a free version only, but have in-app purchases. You'll keep it easy to download and try and if they like the first 10 puzzles, they're more likely to pay the 99 cents or whatever for the next 30 puzzles.

I went with the 15" MBP with the screen upgrade (1680x1050 and anti-glare). To me, the extra vertical pixels are a big plus when coding or writing.

30 disks = 30 floppies back then. Yes, I've installed Linux (and 386BSD) from a big stack of floppies. It's not fun.

Dropbox is used by about half my coworkers. Among friends that I work on projects with, it's used by more like 90% of them. That's on par with Skype and we saw their valuation.

I help myself keep going when a project like that is slow to bring in revenue by measuring it in terms of what that can buy. My little $50 a month site is almost a new iPad a year and I don't spend any time on it.

The price can seem a little high but it's a fixed price. No guessing, no haggling, no uncertainty. Just pick one you like and go. I wonder if you'd consider locking in the matching Twitter, YouTube, etc. names as well. I'm afraid that if yo

I have a friend with an XNA community game in the store. He's so disgusted with the garbage that goes on to get games to rank in the store that I think he's pretty much given up. I don't see that as a viable option to make money unless you

I don't know about the price. I'm a cheap bastard so it all seems expensive to me. If you can find a way to A/B test different prices or run special offers that might help figure out the best prices.

It's a good question to ask, but it ignores the benefits of electronic books. Imagine Abraham Lincoln, born in a log cabin, raised in poverty, being stymied in his early education by the lack of paper, a typewriter, or electric lights. Thi

Yes, it's really frustrating that Netflix only allows streaming from the primary account and none of the sub accounts. Anything we stream shows up on the recently watched list for our kids to see.

If you can find news and other interesting items related to the web app, set up a Twitter, Facebook group, blog, Tumblr, etc. and shovel a couple pieces of content on there a day. Search Twitter and follow everyone talking about that niche,
