If you need some evidence of what is actually happening, then I recommend following Andy Ngo on Twitter. It's certainly only one view point of the protests that are going on, but its a side you won't see covered anywhere else.

Yeah and I don't care if people down vote me. That won't make me change my mind or change the things I have personally witnessed. If people wish to believe the MSM reporting then fine, but I won't be bullied into changing m

Living near Portland I would say that anyone that puts "PRESS" on their shirt with tape defines themselves as a journalist...or even just someone holding a phone or camera. Same as those medics with a red cross out of tape. Ther

They have a plan, but for anyone that knows Oregon politics it's doomed to have high overhead costs and government inefficiencies built in. I mean they couldn't adapt to the extra $600/wk federal unemployment or not having a

This might be a good way to get a CTF/pentesting lab up and running on a RPi. I've been looking for a good way to do that where I can do my CTF tests remotely on my homelab.

"even going so far as to make customers pay a licensing fee to play stolen games" That's a reach...technically they charged a license fee to use SXOS which allowed homebrew. It can also be used for playing stolen games, but

You also need to consider that 70 years ago there weren't giant global companies with 100K+ employees like Apple or Amazon. CEOs of companies with < 1K employees are probably still making 30x the average worker. Unfortunately most

I couldn't agree more. One of the few things I think Trump has done correctly is that he sunsetted DACA with a timeline that should have been adequate to pass a new law (that was his point actually since the presidential order was not

This is the biggest frustration that many people have with criticism of SCOTUS...they want them to rule one way or another when congress could simply write new laws to be more clear (ok, it's not simple but it is the correct way). Righ

So for the just under the price of a used 4-5 year old server you can get that case...not really practical for someone on a budget.

I haven't tallied all the costs...nor do I want to. The media server is an 2U HP G8 DL380P with the 12LFF drive cage. I run Xpenology (synology hacked to run on other hardware). That allows me to run Plex and Docker along with some a

Running a less efficient server or making a brand new server that consumes raw materials. Same can be said for a 10yr old Honda Civic versus a brand new Tesla. Either way is wasteful...just depends on your viewpoint.

SAS are better, but for my NAS/Media server needs I use SATA. I have 8x8TB, 2x4TB and 1x500GB SSD...all within a 2U rackmount server that set me back less than $250 that includes things like backup power supplies and 192GB of RAM. I

This might depend on where you live...my server pulls 180W average with 11 hard drives (10 reg, 1 SSD). That works out to ~$150/yr at my electricity rate of $0.0816/kwh.

Depends on your storage needs. More than 6-8 hard drives and getting an ATX form factor machine is near impossible, while many brands/generations of rack mount servers fit the bill for cheap.

Do some reasearch. The G8 DL380p I bought sounded fine until I didn't use the built in RAID and opted for software RAID due to the software I wanted to use. Not using that RAID caused the fans to run 100% all the time. I opted to hi

Their hardware is great, but pricey. Used server can be had for a lot cheaper and you can get the same functionality with Xpenology. Not sure the electricity savings outweighs the upfront hardware costs.

I did this also. An HP G8 DL380p with 12LFF spots was had for <$250 with plenty of RAM. Add Xpenology and it was like having a Synology NAS for about 1/5 the price. Currently I'm running 8x8TB in RAID6...something that would

People who become managers, directors and eventually VPs usually have one thing in common. They know how to get people to become better people. It's not about being the best at the specific job that they did before getting promoted..
