C'mon srj's suggestion isn't that bad. I'd be tempted to put it into REITs. The main thing you want to avoid is having your investment move in the opposite direction to house prices. If the REIT goes down then it'

Good one. Forgot about this one. Intelligent Investor is good too as per other commenter but I find that it's quite hard reading for a beginner.

In typical chicken-egg fashion there is no better teacher than having skin in the game, but just make sure you know what you're doing before you jump in. Personally I tend to encourage people to read Bogleheads' Guide to Investing

Essentially the assumption that prices are set efficiently does not hold for FX. Errors in pricing can occur, and when there is an arbitrage opportunity and a market maker loses money then it is assumed (possibly) due to a pricing error whi

Doesn't take into account the fact that FX is "last look" for the provider of the liquidity and so any one of the transactions along the way could be rejected. In fact even if the trade wasn't rejected at the time of tra

I've found that whether they mean it or not, friends are often good for a place to crash until you actually need it. There's always a reason they can't let you stay.

Any chance you could put together a video of yourself explaining to people you were homeless? You seemed to get really good responses from people, and I'm intrigued as to whether there was something special about the way you presented.

Absolutely. Even today, you can't compare it to other markets where execution takes place on an exchange. "Honor among thieves" is the expression that comes to mind when talking about FX.

It's as hard for the person with the dark colour as it is for everyone else. Most people are reasonable if you ask them to change their colour, too. Otherwise you can kick them between rounds.

I am saying that if you're a self-styled market maker but only bidding for the 99.9% of the time when the market isn't in free-fall then the "social utility" claim is dubious. People who place stop-loss orders would not
