OP says it’s the regions where child care costs 50 to 100k, so I am basing it on that.

If you want more than 2 kids it’s rarely feasible in USA, but not an issue for Europe. No kids, USA hands down. One kid, comparable. Two kids, Europe looks better but USA is still possible. Three kids, you need free childcare somewhere to m

Imagine if Germans or Japan claimed they want to be wealthiest country in the world again… That is how it feels to the rest of the world when they hear UK thinking they want to reclaim the top spot again.

Does Netherlands or Spain claim to want to be wealthiest again? Many countries used to be wealthiest, and are no longer. uk is the one of the few arrogant ones that keeps thinking they will make a come back.

It’s harder to fire people in Japan and Europe compared to USA. The downside is that it is extremely hard for new grads with no experience to get their first job in Japan and Europe compares to USA.

The nice thing about team sports is that a team needs support players as well as superstars. This means there’s a career for people who aren’t the best talent wise but are willing to contribute to the team in other ways.

Sad story to read. It is almost as if it is better to have failed out early than to spend your prime years trying to break it into the top 100. Classical music, art, poet, writers, pro athletes all fall into this category.

Even in academia, short consistent wins are needed to ensure your lab stays open. Heck even Andrew Wiles, someone who only needed pen and paper for research, had to publish papers during his 7 years working on Fermats last theorem.
