I thought it was reasonably common knowledge if you had a phone jack with 4 wires, you could route data over those 4 pins in an ethernet plug too. Came in handy in an older house that used to have an intercom system, we just borrowed the de

I have seen a spam button show up I haven't seen in a long time. It might be a new round of AI training featuring the labour of customers as free employees doing training. Every time we click, we consent to sharing private email data.

Surprised multiplying by Pi hasn't made it here. Multiply your estimate by 3.14159 until you find the actuals and your more accurate estimating coefficient. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28667174 (2013) original

This make little to no sense. This is being reported on because it seems newsworthy and a departure from the norm. Apple also categorically says they refuse such requests. It's a private device. With private data. Device and data own

Using AI while in the drivers seat of testing your own understanding and growing it interactively is far more constructive than passive iteration or validation psychosis.

This was my thought as well, sniping bots have been around for as long as ebay has. Perhaps though, the sniping bots don't cause as much load on ebay's infrastructure?

Sometimes solutions end up solving problems that don't need constant featuritis. Maybe they're deciding to maximize locked in revenue and margin. Laying off so many people doesn't seem signal the greatest confidence to the ma

AI is just software and technology. It's not alive. Or intelligent. Or Sentient. How software and technology is used in a classroom is far more important, especially when its happening with or without folks. There's a chance now t

There are studies done that social media before 14 greatly increases depression in new ways. And short form content physically shrinks the brain. Studies easily accessible. Just because boomers are out of touch doesn't mean you or I d

EdTech has been like this for a long time. It's more education (educators) than technology. What's exciting is that tech will be able to help provide more meaningful support instead of throwing dozens of software tools at a stude

The article is very balanced. To arrive at the balance it has to setup balance, which people might not want long form text for. It might have people examine their current beliefs and how they formed and any associated dissonance with that.

Oh, nothing to imagine.. It’s already a reality in many places. Last call at 2, people filter out by 3, instead of being pushed outside instantly. Some sporting events don’t sell alcohol the last quarter, period, etc.
