I understand Jeff's motivation for writing his piece. Alas, I just hope people learn to code if they want, or don't if they don't want to. That's all. No one else can make the decision for them. I also go out of my way to teach people codin

Ugh. This again... Zed slayed this debate but I guess the horse is still twitching.

Brubeck can generate a full REST API capable of supporting Backbone.js apps by just writing the data model. Similar to Tastypie, but on Brubeck. https://github.com/j2labs/todos is an example.

Even though I agree, virtualenvwrapper is currently a shell script. That makes me think it probably wouldn't be included, but a pythonic version of the same thing could exist and fill this gap.

I thought you meant to say you had additional personal experience, but perhaps you've just been reading about Riak today. Thanks anyway.

Very useful data. Do you have anything more comprehensive about your experience?

Callback hell doesn't have to exist. Python has gevent / eventlet and Node has tame.js, among others.

Python folks might be interested in Brubeck. It too pulls messages directly from mongrel2 and provides coroutines for its concurrency abstraction. https://github.com/j2labs/brubeck

The reason for FB's drop seems simple. The options have been traded on secondmarket for a long time already, meaning institutional investors have already been playing the invest-in-facebook game for a long time. The only folks left are the

Still no gzip support, though. I had to jump through some hoops to get this to work by posting duplicate files that were gzipped ahead of time that respond to all requests with static headers saying the content is gzipped. It works, but it'

Regarding your third point, if I was a VC that was beating the market - and there actually are many - I'd be happy to share my info and put pressure on the weaker VC's to expose themselves.

While abilities are important, being able to trust someone is almost certainly more important.

They should take it as a cue to start differentiating themselves as the experts Amazon aren't. Amazon jumping in could be a rising tide, rather than a destructive force, if McMaster Carr plays their cards right.

My mistake, you are correct that I forgot the second command. The new tldr is: numactl --interleave=all /path/to/daemon; echo 0 > /proc/sys/vm/zone_reclaim_mode This file helps explain the different ways one can tweak memory with Linux:

tl;dr - If you're running a database, or generally memory intensive system, while also using multiple CPUs you should run this command: echo 0 > /proc/sys/vm/zone_reclaim_mode But the article is great. You should definitely read it.

I think it would be pretty cool to hook Brubeck up to ZeroRPC. Brubeck can do all the web processing and then communicate with Mongrel2 for HTTP while delegating other work through ZeroRPC.

As I said before: Ease in using HTTP itself is welcome, but I don't want to use it in my infrastructure. It's a band-aid for WSGI instead of a solution.

I prefer ZMQ when I have the choice. ZMQ is better from an ideological perspective and better for infrastructure. In cases where you can only use HTTP, this will be great, but if I have a choice I'd use ZMQ instead. I don't mean to sound di
