Rust has fine-tunable control. It‘s just locked behind an „unsafe“ block.

So what? If you stored each Pixel on a modern WQHD monitor, that would be 15mb. Its almost like people on HN dont know what theyre talking about

Wikipedia is a largely uniform, read-only, static experience. These days people want app-like experience on the front-end. Can‘t manage them with jquery. The bit about typescript is true at runtime. However, Typescript is also good document

I couldn‘t disagree more. It‘s a user portal managing thousands of different interactions and workflows, based on the users existing information. Most of them can be edited live with a content-management-system by an editor. These workflows

Why do you think that? Forms can be easily manipulated with refs. A ref points to the native element. It‘s really not that hard

Why did you hate react? It‘s really one of the less complicated frameworks out there.

The magic is in the combination of types and proper names. What use is a variable that‘s nicely named when you don‘t know what it holds?

You could also use customize-cra and skip on minifications in about 10 lines of code

Why not use something if you have an added benefit? It‘s like writing code in „ed“ just because it worked for decades

Heuristics shouldn‘t really be a factor when you are a senior. Make a decision based on your competence and experience.

At Work, we‘re building web applications that need to be accessed by hundreds of editors with thousands of pages. Most of them share an essential bundle of components. Are you telling me a project that complicated can be built using just jq

Just because the data is structured this way in the example, doesn't mean it's not possible. What's hindering you from defining a class property for each color? "colors": { "red":{"rgb":"f

> Python, Ruby, Go and, Rust are much more commonly used on the backend Uhhh. They are popular nowadays, but the sheer volume of old CRUD backends in Java or C++ still outweighs these systems. If not, they are at least equal I'd wag

I have. Compared to what most back-end languages have to offer (CMake and the like), it‘s a joy to use, pretty straightforward and well documented.

Well, I guess you‘re out of programming as a whole then, no? Most languages and dev process involve a lot of configuration or „bespoke tools“ and learning the arcane of their interactions. Java? Gradle. JUnit. Maven. JavaDoc. etc. C/CP

Well, I‘d wager it‘s a likely experience if you venture into experimental frameworks. Vue3 is pretty new, as are dependencies that work with it. I have not had any of these problems with `create-react-app` yet

I've seen this take a lot lately, and frankly most of them are straight out lies. Your post may be one of them. The top three modern frameworks all use cli-tools that do the config for you. Most are astonishingly simple to use. There a

There is no „wrangling the build-chain“ if you use the available clis all frameworks come with in advance.

Why would Map<K, V> save any keystrokes? You should not be implementing it yourself anyway, and when using it, you replace K and V with concrete types anyway. > I suppose clearer is a question of semantics, but to me there's n

I'm a fan of terseness when writing code myself , but I dislike terseness very when when it's sparsely documented code found in a library.

rustc sadly comes to a screeching halt when anything is done with generics. I seriously don‘t understand the obsession with naming generics „T“, „X“ or „Z“. Single character variables have been declared bad since the 60s, why hasn‘t the sam

Which also means that under heavy load, the server just crashes generating templates for that many users instead of just serving JS and rendering on the client-side. There's a reason we do things like this nowadays.
