I assume this is just a police state overreach rather than genuine intent to stop crime. They must know that anyone actually engaging in criminal activity is going to not be caught by this because they use other forms of encrypted communica

I don't believe that literal typing of code is the limiting factor in development work. There is the research and planning and figuring out what it is even you need to develop in the first place. By the time you know what questions to

I have had no trouble finding solutions to coding problems by normal searches very quickly. The solution is typically right there in API documentation or one of the first few results. But I suppose that answers how they may make LLMs profit

If it does so much more in 5 or 20 years I would categorize that is something fundamentally changing.

Unless something fundamentally changes I don't see myself ever spending a single dollar on LLMs. If this whole endeavor somehow becomes profitable it will be a miracle.

That may be an issue of going from a CRT tv to an LCD tv. As far as I am aware there was no software manipulation of the video input on a CRT. It just took the input and displayed it on the screen in the only way it could. Newer tvs have al

As someone from the USA what I see from media coverage is genocide in Gaza. They would have to be truly ignorant and intentionally uninformed to say something like that or be in favor of genocide.

This seems to the case from what I've seen. The economy was doing great and federal interests rates were practically non-existant. It was the age of free money which big tech took advantage of to higher a lot of people and gave big sal

It sounds like it is time to create a new internet and not invite these people. I wonder how difficult it would be to create an entirely new internet infrastructure that doesn't rely on anything that currently exists and doesn't o

I wish more writing was framed in such a way that shows it is more of an opinion than an absolute truth. When I read the title "Why facts don't change minds" it sounds like they are explaining a natural law of the universe to

Youtube premium is still an ad driven business model. They are the ones making the problem worse so they can sell you the solution. The more you pay for Youtube Premium the more incentive they have to make ads worse.

This may or may not be a relevant question, but does the terminology of "zip" have the same origin as the zip disk drive?

Is there something different about the built in zip context menu functionality now than before? I'm pretty sure you could convert something to a zip file since forever ago by right clicking any file.

This article is about being skeptical that what people currently call AI that is actually LLMs is going to be a transformative technology. Myself and many others are skeptical that LLMs are even AI. LLMs / "AI" may very well

If game publishers could in clear writing at time of purchase commit to a set number of years that game will be live then I think that is a good start. For example when the next live service game is released and you go to purchase it there

I'm talking about cpu efficiency, not storage space. Video encoding is made to reduce storage at the cost of cpu. But as long as software treats all video formats like a video with the ability to pause and has a seek bar instead of jus

Why? Gifs are by far the most efficiency way to playback micro length video. As in it uses the least amount of processing power due to not being encoded and instead just being a series of images.

I wonder if Denuvo the company charges more or less depending on how much function protection the developer chooses or if it is a flat rate.

Interesting. For how effective Denuvo is the impact is negligible. Less than 1% average framerate and seconds of loading time. The disk space usage is weird, but 100mb to 300mb executables is irrelevant in the age of terabyte drives and 50g

Why do these photos feel like they are so large? Is it just the lack of anything to reference size? I feel like if I stuck my phone inside of something small and took a picture it wouldn't look like this.
