There we go. Try that with video formats.

It doesn't seem like it is much of a secret how they manage this. You just have to make sure it is part of your institution to force it upon the minds of your newborn children. You now have a possibly infinite self replicating virus.

I don't believe these are actually gifs here. Similar to sites like imgur or twitter they convert it to something else to host for other people. Probably to keep bandwidth down. You can get to the actual gif, but you have to dig for it

It doesn't make sense to use GIF for lengthy or large resolutions. For a 16x16 pixel image with 5 frames though...

No "major" impact to the CPU. As insignificant as displaying however many frames exist in the gif as still frame jpegs at the same time.

My house has 4 walls and a roof to cover solar panels in before it makes sense to make my windows solar panels. Unless it is one of those skyscrapers where the entire exterior is glass.

That is true. I suppose even jpegs are compressed and require decoding. I'm pretty sure it is orders of magnitude quicker than video decoding though. I can have 500 gifs playing at once just fine, but if I had 500 equivalently sized we

I understand that they can be made to autoplay with no controls, but I don't even want the possibility of them being paused. This way the format has no choice but to behave as expected across everything.

The most important part of GIFs for me is that they behave like images in browsers. They are always auto-playing with no concept of play and pause. You can drag and drop them from a browser to your desktop to save them. You can save an enti

I would never trust such a ridiculous system. I don't know that many other people would either. Although I would also not trust a fully autonomous vehicle either until more evidence is provided that we were even within 20 years of it.

I don't know that I personally believe sport competition is more important for humanity than NASA. To me sciences and space exploration could easily be 10 times as important as sport. I think the point is that there could be any number

The Vive probably has a way better screen, but the Oculus has way better controllers. At least they are way better for Beat Saber which is arguably the most controller motion intensive game available.

That's exactly the case. The vast majority don't consider the well being of others. The only thing that matters when voting for anything for most is personal finance and well-being. People have gotten very good at isolated themsel

Aren't most mental disorders just behaviors that differ from the norm and make it difficult for those people to function in everyday society? Some cultures wouldn't recognize some things as a disorder if it wasn't difficult f

I still use my 7" tablet for watching and reading stuff and my 5" phone for phone stuff. The thought of having 1 device instead of 2 is pretty nice. We don't appear to be at that point yet, but if it worked I would use it.

At the high cost of performance. As a consumer I am not really concerned with how easy it is to develop for. I'd rather see high frame rates than bleeding edge graphics. It's a good technology, but if we can't even manage 60
