It's interesting that the only time Facebook seems to want to offer you any kind of emotional experience is when you're trying to leave the site, and the experience is designed to be a negative one, rooted in guilt.

It's pretty non-obvious. I'd recommend making the text readable without mouseover if you want people to read it at all.

It was an existing trend accelerated by the recession. An excess of stuff is no longer fashionable. Hopefully it lasts awhile (the fashion, not the recession).

That's interesting. I'm the opposite way: I find I think less before writing and edit a lot more when I write on paper. Words on a screen look as flawlessly rendered as words in print, and to me that makes them seem more permanent; I feel

For me it's 99% frustration, but the other 1% is the moments when the thing that used to be an idea in my head becomes a part of reality, and those moments feel so good I'm willing to put up with the frustrating ones.
