Oh I'm well aware they used to make very quality products. Craftsman at one point was re-branding high quality products, like Abus locks. But that was again, 50 years ago. Their recent tools have left me disappointed with issues co

Good may be a bit too generous to Craftsman. I've never found their hand tools reliable. Their powertools less so. Worst was a ratchet where the first thing to break wasn't one of the teeth on the gear, but instead the pawl, mea

L3 went down per core, but total L3 only fell by 3 MiB. While total L2 flew up from 2.5 MiB to 16 MiB in a single generation for two processors that target the same segment at the same price. Per core you're correct, but I was looking

In the case I was thinking of, Skylake-X, the HEDT line, that wasn't entirely true. I was looking mostly at something like Broadwell-E vs Skylake-X, where the difference is huge: Core i7-6950X - $1,700 at launch in 05-2016: 10 × 256 K

Skylake-X has 1024 KiB of L2 per core. Which was a 4x increase over the 256 KiB of L2 per core that had been the standard forever since they've been going with the Core series.

More cards is not seen as an advantage. There are a couple cases where you may want more cards, but usually up to about 75. It's about drawing the right cards, not just many, and more cards makes your deck less reliable, simply on th

That does not sound too broad. I don't think anyone wants these unsolicited marketing calls. And people definitely don't want the 'free vacation in the Bahamas' spam calls. I can hardly tell the two apart. What

From the previous article on this island, it was not expected to last this long, and now if I'm remembering correctly it's not expected to last more than 30 years. It may just be better to research what happens naturally for the

The NCEES does offer a software engineering PE exam. But, that's meaningless when anyone can be a dev because there are no limits to who can be hired for what purpose in software, really.

So, this reminds me of a nuclear meltdown vs. the constant pollution form a coal power plant nearby a city. Even with one of those single, ugly, massive failures they could still very well cause fewer deaths.

This runs into the paradox of tolerance[1]. Net, when the things being censored are say, advocating for genocide, the harm they can lead to is much greater than not having people advocating for genocide. [1]: https://en.wikipedi
