After trying to install a rails app on Ubuntu , frankly the entirety of ruby and its notion of how a mature language should be packaged is pure amateur hour. Rvm is a mess, the various versions are a mess. For example v1.9.3 appears to be c

Control of a currency has little to do with taxation. Eurozone countries manage to tax income just fine even though they do not have "control" over their currencies.

The sense of scale is noticable even in this article. The author is parking a fire engine on his driveway . Here in Europe a driveway is one or two car lengths of gravel or paving blocks. In the US, everyone's driveway is more like somethi

Precisely. Google exists because of the nerd minority! Once they lose sight of that they're doomed. Who do they think will be the early adopters of self driving cars?

If you want a mathematician who can also program, that's fine. But you should be aware that that's what you actually want, and make that clear to potential applicants. The majority of development roles do not need any more mathematical know

I would guess that being a CIO is 80% about management/people skills and 20% about technology. Hopefully that goes some way to explaining why these people did not understand your email.

There's no accounting for what people think is "normal". If I was a moustachian I would probably say something like: "Looking back on that, you realise that was an absolutely insane way of spending money. What expenses do you still have whi
