That's surprising. I would have expected him to be pretty savvy about slide design.

I pull every now and then from git://repo.or.cz/emacs.git, and build my own with --with-ns. I was using CarbonEmacs, but multi-tty support is amazing. I have my main Emacs frames running, and if I need to pop into a quick session in a termi

Yeah, I didn't do more than just mention cherry-pick, but that's really a great way to show how different git is from SVN. There's no way to do that, or anything close, with SVN.

It's funny to see someone who claims to be an expert be so wrong. We can learn something from that.

Because some people like to commit a lot...I once had a project where I committed after every red/green cycle. If specs were green and there was uncommitted code, I committed. That's only useful for me, during tight development loops, not t

Here's some magic, then. Say you've got a bunch of commits that you haven't pushed yet, and you don't like the way you did them. You worked on one thing for a while, fixed something else, worked on another thing, went back to the first thin

I get why some people will object, since Haml is an alternate markup language, and Seaside is a framework. I basically agree. However, the point of this post, and the point of the discussion here, should be about how awesome Haml is. I want

No one will do this. Twitter works because it is a low-impact way to communicate. If I have to think (Gee, this is about #rspec and #ruby and is kinda fun but not #fun...) then I'm no longer using Twitter I'm doing work.

"revocable, fine-grained access to whatever subset of operations is required for the service in question" This is exactly what is needed, and what the current "OAuth doesn't solve Phishing!" response misses.

It's great to see a company's API lead engaging in a discussion like this. I feel like he's missing the point of the critics, though. OAuth may not solve the phishing problem, but it has demonstrable advantages over handing out your passw

I'm not sure where to begin. Demon-Haunted World is about skepticism, and how to use science and rational inquiry to avoid scams, pseudoscience, hoaxes, and possibly religion. It is not a strictly atheist book, although you could read it as

Or sell ads yourself the old fashioned way, and call them sponsors. Send 1 message a day, thanking them with a short message and a link.

Speaking only of 1Password, they have plugins for most, that share the same database. Also syncs to my iPhone.

Agreed on the password manager. I've got 1Password in Safari, and the "Generate Password" option is so easily available it becomes second nature.

The beauty of this is that end-users have no extra install path. They download an app, and use it. For the developer, it's a matter of taking the same skills that make rich web apps, and make them run client side.

Scrum doesn't have any engineering practices attached, it's purely a management process. BDD/TTD, pairing, etc., all go nicely with Scrum, but are not required.
