You would have to somehow get the user to click on the Flash object. I wouldn't rely on Flash for the user experience, though. What YouTube does is probably best (an input box that selects all on click). People are probably most familiar wi

Can you actually completely take down Vista 64 through 3D APIs, given the user-level drivers? It would be very interesting if you could. The only plausible way I know of is to repeatedly crash the driver for several minutes, and even this i

Facebook would probably confirm that this still happens. They switched from simple ?cachebreakers to: http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/zD9BP/lpkg/rjg2jdf2/en_U...

I wouldn't be surprised if 10 out of 543 people had JavaScript off, or Google Analytics failed to load in time.

It looks like it's completely broken on the iPhone (at least my v1.1 browser). In this case though, it could just not pop up the boxes. I would hope that other touchscreen devices advertise their (lack of) capability in the user agent.

If Microsoft adopts WebKit, they'll probably keep IE7 emulation mode in, as it is now in IE8. I doubt they'll try to port IE bugs to WebKit; there's just too many.

It has event bugs all the way back from IE6. It's not even close to compliant, except for the most complained-about things.

Not just one. Derek Sivers: "I spent two years trying to make Rails do something it wasn’t meant to do, then realized my old abandoned language (PHP, in my case) would do just fine if approached with my new Rails-gained wisdom." http://www

My relatively small, non-spammy application took a 20% hit from its perfectly linear growth, but I'm already back to July's levels. Things never halved and are certainly not dead.

I don't mind running Linux in a virtual machine or PuTTYing into another host. If you have gigabit access to it, does it really matter if you must use two OSes to get the job done?

The best you can do is search your email for account registrations/passwords resets, or look at your browser's saved passwords. I keep a copy of all my accounts/passwords in a text file, since I don't want to dig through backups if a web pa
