There is another project called JUMP math which has shown some great results, and is now getting adopted widely in Canada. Essentially the approach is to present concepts as bite-sized chunks (more scaffolded) and make students gradually wo

I have two books you might be interested in (written by me). If you want to review math fundamentals (high school math), the No Bullshit Guide to Mathematics will be good for you—condensed material for adult learners. Preview: https:/

I highly recommend you look into SymPy, which offers symbolic math computations on top of standard Python programming capabilities. I checks all the boxes except for speed—since it is Python after all... What makes SymPy great for learning

Mostly reviews of text edits on the books. I'll make some changes for a while, then add them to git, and review the changes `git diff --color-words --cached` before I commit. Both MATH&PHYS and LA books are about to get a point-rel

Oh cool. I just learned a new git verb today! (Previously I always used `git diff <commit-1> <commit>` but `git show <commit>` is much simpler.

An excellent tool that can be used in conjunction with this approach is the word-level diff option for git diffs: `git diff --color-words` Rather than processing entire lines (useful for code), it shows individual word changes, so it's

I'm +1 about the use of Python, but I'd say ONLY when complexity gets higher than simply calling commands (e.g. cat/sed/etc). For basic commands, I'd say Makefile is the way to go, or scripts in a package.json. I fi

Yes for a live call that would probably be the easiest. The USB camera use case is to send "table top" video input into OBS, mix with other sources, and record the lesson for offline async viewing (flipped classroom).
