The talk was first given at 44CON in September in 2013 (but only available on the DVD, not posted on the youtube channel). Funnily enough, this isn't the first time Oona's RDS adventures have been on HN[1]. Indeed, there's a

I'd love to share the optimism that the genie can be put back in the bottle, but I don't. When we talk about surveillance on western forums, we mostly refer to the work by the five eyes community, but they're not the only com

Nice one! I like the proxy idea, any chance of it showing up on github? Not as old as this, but I wrote a guide nearly 10 years ago on installing Apache on Apple Unix (OSX is not the first Unix from Apple) on a Quadra[1]. [1] - http:/

Part of the reason they squander the money is similar to many from former Soviet countries. The Soviets took wealth from people to redistribute it. Especially towards the end of the Soviet Union many people were exceptionally poor and strug

I'm not the OP but Istanbul's been my second city for over a decade. It's a really amazing place. As the parent says, Turks are incredibly friendly. Having said that, corruption is fairly rife and people will constantly try t

The article completely glosses over the fact that the reason for the media silence is the D-Notice (officially DA-Notice but no-one calls them that) in effect. This is a 'voluntary scheme' in which the government asks the media no

This service shouldn't exist. It breaks the very concept of email security. They're marketing it as though it's safe. Want hyperbole? Imagine Bayer marketing heroin as safe because you know, it's opt-in.

The article I feel is missing several points. Using riseup with dropbox for example seems to be the wrong way to do it. The problems we have with e-mail are due to e-mail itself. Traditional E-mail (whether it's delivered over SMTP

I'm completely unsurprised as to how Istanbul is at the top of the list. Istanbul is an ancient city on top of 7 steep hills. It's also the largest city in Europe and the 5th largest in the world. Istanbul even particularly in the
