We only have musk's word that tag was used to measure visibility. Wouldn't a random sample with users of different sizes and types make more sense for that? Even if it was, that could have the same effect. If they test every chang

This is an interesting example of the Clever Hans Phenomenon. You think you're comparing GPT and Google equally but you're actually giving GPT much more manual help. A search as simple as "UUG acronym" gives me the answe

What I'm referring to is what most rest APIs actually are. You mostly just use GET & POST, and urls are more arbitrary and often verbs instead of nouns. Pretty much nobody uses "true" rest.

In this specific case I think it's super reasonable. The KV store has two backbends: local sqlite and distributed deno cloud. If you choose the deno cloud backend you're signing up for a closed source cloud service from the start.

If you don't deploy to deno cloud it's just SQLite and not distributed. If you do deploy to deno cloud it's trivial to migrate because there are many competing offerings of kv stores.

I don't know why JSON over HTTP gets so little love on here. It's probably the most popular option. If you don't want a resource-oriented API you don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater and go all the way to

The article seems quite practical. She wants her users to be able to use Proxies over her classes. Private members make a class ineligible for proxying. So she'd rather use private-by-convention.

Isn't the argument that those forums are much better designed than Mastodon. From the other recent HN article on mastodon, where the author writes their own server, the protocol seems horribly innefficient.

I thought no instance has reliable, complete, cross-fediverse search. I thought no instance shows replies from across the fediverse. I've heard the protocol is too inefficient to support receiving everything.
