Every time an OS book (about weekly) is posted on HN, I immediately want to jump all over it but I gently remind myself to finish: CMU's Computer System's from a programmer's perspective and Elements of computing (nand2tetris

Super impressive. Up until a couple weeks ago, I was never exposed to processor architecture, let alone the ALU. But, I had purchased the book "Elements of Computing" (nand2tetris.org) which guides the reader through the necessar

You're probably right. The last time I hunted for a new TV was about 3-4 years ago; I'm guessing nowadays, most (if not all) TVs are now "smart."

Thanks for sharing—my family was ripped apart due to my father's unbridled gambling. Although it's conceivable that casinos play their part in motivating people to gamble, much of the addiction is a battle within the individuals.

Whoa, such a simple and effective method by overriding the hosts file. Any idea how this file is kept up-to-date? Presumably new endpoints are constantly being rolled out; I wonder how the author of this file discovers the new hosts.
