While I like the improvements to regular taxi service that the competition has brought, I don't like Uber. They're just shady all around. The "We're not a taxi service, we just sell software" is a load of crap. How

It is somewhat lacking in the community. What's there is quite friendly, cool, and often doing neat things. There just isn't as many libraries as, say, Python, because there aren't as many people. I'd say learn the MS ec

I start my day just as if I were going to work. Get up with the alarm, do morning chores, take a shower, dress decently (but not office-nice), sit down and start working. My first task: send email to someone, preferably a team. There might

I'm not Gates, or Ive, or anyone famous. I am the best, though. I'm the best coworker. I'm the best friend. I'm the best mentor. I'm the best leader. Plenty of people have told me so. Not newspapers, not random inte

My approach is fine. I'm not having trouble finding work. Your approach sounds fine, too. That doesn't help the huge middle who only seek work every few years. Nor does it help those employers who are just trying to find someone

I generally agree. If a job is so close to being marginalized that it would be eliminated by an increase in the minimum, then the cost of that automation is already pretty close to replacing that job, anyway. My pie-in-the-sky ideal would b

Could you add a "hearing test" to your app, which does at least rudimentary tuning? Call it "headphone calibration" and I bet you'd improve the listening experience of people who don't know they are hearing imp

I genuinely enjoy driving cars and bikes. I blow through 40-50K miles a year driving country roads and highways, for no other reason than enjoyment. I am completely on-board with having my commute automated. If public transportation was an

The keyboard shortcuts don't work in a less-than-fullscreen terminal server session. That's where a lot of my admin work happens, and having to hover over that corner sucks.

I was just thinking about this too. If the networks were up to it, we could have multiple addresses. Not just for receiving, but for sending. A "phone number" is unnecessary.

Exactly. If it replaces anything, it's because it is more efficient at it. This is all anecdotal, I know... Since Facebook, my email inbox is almost devoid of "RE:RE:FW:FW" broadcast messages. I still get plenty of email from family and fri

Heh. I just checked. "Type" is an alias for "get-content". I suspect bringing all that up would just confuse the issue, and detract from your goal.

I missed the previous link, so I'm glad it came up. I do a lot of powershell, Zed. Would you be interested in feedback? For example, while "type" still works, "get-content" is the powershell equivalent. Nice work, one way or the other. Plea

Yup. Posh ended my habit of installing cygwin, and now I cringe when I have to do it the "old-fashioned" way on a Linux box. Powershell is more verbose, but much more expressive.

Since hearing about the ARM port, I've been wondering: how hard is it to port a .NET app to ARM? Seems relevant to the topic (if it is easy, that's a whole bunch of apps), so I thought I'd ask.

My guess is that when the money in the ATMs didn't reconcile. It may be normal for a set of ATMs to be off by a few hundred a year, but anything higher than the norm would be enough to set off alarms. After that, it just involves reviewing

I think the difference is "interoperability" v. "integration". The OSS community has typically favored the former, while denigrating MS for the latter. There's benefit to the integration path. MS' tools play very nicely with one another, an
