Not a good idea, I'm afraid. Your ad-hoc will cause the caching to stutter and the job queues to stagger. Redis is a single-threaded server and shared databases, well, share the same process. The common practice is to use dedicated Red

Loading plugins into Redis, a-la Dynamic Redis approach or otherwise, has long been discussed in the Redis community. Presently, antirez prefers not to destablize Redis (and thus damage its solid stability reputation) by allowing external c

Indeed - and as we speak antirez is busily refactoring, merging, testing and extending it in Redis... happy-meter is off the scales here.

The "Why" is @seppo010's to answer (but having it run as is on all OSs is a big plus for one). As for writing it in Assembler, that makes little practical sense since Redis is written in (ANSI) C and it quite well optimized.

I know how that goes - with our RLEC we're taking the same approach. PWS is amazing, arguably the easiest to work and integrate with for us :) As for goodness @ the Pivotal site, this is one of my favorite - dying to see it grow: http

Not at all - Redis Labs Enterprise Cluster is a downloadable software that makes running Redis clusters a breeze. It is by no means a managed service like Redis Cloud, although much of the underlying tech is the same :)
