Right. Let me take this from a different angle. I like to hear about projects moving away from technology much more than jumping onto a band wagon. Right now, Scala feels to me as a band wagon. Some of the guys who moved to use Scala from J

You can do many things with PHP and MySQL but the real question: is it worth it? I would be interested comparing the TCO (including development time) with platforms like this. I think MySQL is lagging behind Postgres nowadays so I would muc

Is it an accident that you picked the worst offenders for each category? :) Not as verbose as Java -> Java is probably the most verbose compiled OOP language Refactoring is safer than it would be in JS -> I think with the IDEs this me

Yes a little bit of competition in the container registry space would be good for everybody. I need to have a closer look how good is this Google offering. One problem that we run into was security when started to use Docker. The management

Haha very true!! My #1 complain against MongoDB was the silent data loss scenario. Anyways I am curious what RethinkDB has to offer.

If you think about this as a small scale evolution it makes sense. On the other hand, I understand why the guy is unhappy. Apple os breaking compatibility for no good reason, mostly for promoting their new shiny things (like Swift), which d

Two things. One: I don't know what is the idea of keen.io after watching the video. I guess it is some sort of generic data collection platform with querying capabilities. Two: based on the pitch (6 mins) I don't know why should I

To be fair, this is happening because of the wide spread "open office" movement ruined office work in the US. Who thought that putting 10-20+ people in the same space without boundaries is going to increase productivity when we kn

In fact low latency and high-throughput are usually best friends. You cannot maintain high throughput if your operations are taking longer. Also have a look to this picture. Using G1, doing few hundred MB/s. http://postimg.o

I don't think that you are wrong, most of the JVM users are not forced to look into how GC works unless they are exposed to extreme high scale and load like LinkedIN, Twitter, etc. It is not uncommon to roll with 6GB+ heap. GC gets in
