They don't get tired, they don't have days off sick, they are repeatable Automation is good. Assuming the hypothetical robot that can do the required task actually exists, it's probably worth nearer to $100k a year

I love that completely hypothetical example of a public figure on a train making a political point. [cough] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37167700 I mean why bother attempting to obscure it when it's such

As a typical Brit who mostly just speaks English, and have over 50 countries on 6 continents under my belt, I've never been to a country that had Spanish as an official language. In a given year the languages that would help me are Rus

Interesting. Couldn't under ios10, but I've bitten the bullet and downgraded to ios12 and yes, it's right there, cool.

Even if it were 50k a year, that's under $6 an hour, which beats minimum wage in the U.S.

I always regret writing bash scripts, which start really simple, but tr require refactoring into perl after a few days. Only problem with perl I've run into is analysing text at speed - 60,000 lines a second of regex doesn't work

Having a customisable control centre might be good. I often turn mobile data on and off (when I'm abroad), and it's a minor pain going into settings. On the other hand I hardly ever touch Bluetooth, and never use airdrop or airpla

How about a compromise where I pay for a service and get it. If they want to pay me to watch their advert then fine, pay me say 50 cents and I'll watch a 10 second advert. How about that for a compromise?

Peanuts. I don't subscribe to sky tv in the uk for £30 a month because they also get £5 a month extra from 30% of the time showing ads. The same subscription with out adverts would be £35 a month, basically the same price.

Wow, higher than bbc. What's more annoying is adverts are a mere 7% of income, yet make it unwatchable. So lucky in the UK.

In 1999 Italy was 7th, in 2017 it was 9th (world bank placing) India and Brazil overtook it thanks to massive growth. That's not a problem for Italy directly. The US has changed from 29% of the world economy to 24% over the same period

Sure, however the shareholders seem happy, they're richer than ever -- look at the DOW. For them, the control over the workers, and the lack of slacking off, is the best of both worlds.

It’s the worst of both worlds. Isn't that a matter of perspective? The command and control of communism, but with the incentives of capitalism, ensures maximum value is delivered from the person doing the work to the shareholders.

Nobody gives a stuff about the cost, you'll get the same pressure if you plan to deliver privately. There's fewer than 700,000 births a year. If every one was a c-section it would cost an extra £700m a year, less than 1% of the NH
