On the other hand, seeing violence up close gives you a better understanding of experiences many people outside the affluent west have to deal with. I ran back toward my bus after it blew up in Jerusalem and I mostly don't regret it. I hav

I've been looking for something similar to what you're describing (and hoping to stay away from Google & Facebook). However, before you turn your site back again, are there any other smaller fish out there already filling your niche?

I'm not convinced this fallacy really exists. It's not hard to observe that a coffeeshop is a hectic place that makes its meager profits one latte at a time.

Unrelated, but I'm not sure where I should submit bug reports: I just tried to submit a story for the first time in a while (weeks? months?) and got the error "You're submitting too fast. Please slow down. Thanks."

It's a lot of different people with different beliefs. The majority seem upset about some combination of: 1) growing income disparity ( http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/the_great_di... ) 2) regulatory capture by financial ins

This isn't reddit, and it definitely isn't /r/politics. Your tone is out of place on news.yc and people are downvoting you because you're diminishing the quality of the discussion.

As much as the Soviet Union tried to keep down Jews, they were also trying to promote people who fit a nationalist narrative. So it wasn't just antisemitism, it was also affirmative action for Russians (especially those of peasant descent).

The "locals" still get grumpy even when Jews can't own land or amass much wealth. The pogroms and massacres in Ukraine, Poland, Russia, etc... were generally against very poor communities. On the other hand, Jewish communities were much mor

Similar story: My dad was his high school's valedictorian in Kiev, but couldn't get a spot at a regular university. He ended up getting a degree in 'applied physics' from a night school after his military service. I think he's always regret

Cool, this would have helped me a lot when I was getting started. An idea: You might want to start the README with 'Skeleton is X'. I had to scan around for a while to figure out what your project actually does.

That's about $8 per CUNY student for both software and 5 years of hosting. Doesn't seem so bad to me-- I'd be surprised if a competitor would be much cheaper.
