That’s a very inappropriate comment and the professor who made it must be reprehended. However, in order to get a PhD you must face much harder challenges. Whoever left engineering because of that comment is not fit for a PhD.

> why might that be Man and women having different interests had innate, biological roots. It has been observed in children only a few weeks old. I am not saying this explains the whole imbalance, but for sure it can explain part of it.

Why work to do? If the imbalance is the result of different innate preferences (and there’s a great deal of evidence it is) then working against nature is a waste of time and money!

I don’t see how something not deliberate can be rude, to be honest… The fact that someone is offended doesn’t make it rude. People get offended for pretty much everything these days, yet not everything is rude!

> US centrism is so rude. Are you sure rude is the right term? Usually you would define rude something deliberate. As annoying as it might be, this is not deliberate.

Roughly: if there’s one job per person in the field, and for each opening there are 100 applicants, it will take 100 applications for the average person, on average to get hired.

Using them it’s not, forcing people to use them it is. It’s the argument Jordan Peterson was making, and probably one of his most misunderstood points. He’s fine with people asking to be called in a certain way, and he would most likely obl

Do you feel compelled to go to the library or to the chess club as you are talking to a friend? I am sure the vast majority of people don’t, while so many people feel completed to check something on the Internet. Do you feel uncomfortable i

There’s very convincing evidence that the average intelligence is the same for man and women, but the variance is slightly higher for men. This means that you’ll find more males at the tails of the distribution, and guess where the chess ch

To be honest I have no idea of how good and bad can be defined without a strong value system (be it religious or secular). It’s pretty much the definition of value system, actually!

I am not sure I get your point. One can have a range of opinions about religions, but I think it’s clear most of them provide some strong guidance about what’s good and what’s bed. I mean, some of them literally contains lists of what’s goo
