I appreciate the skepticism, but "for the same money" is off base in my experience. Maintaining IaaS services costs much less when taking personnel expenses into account.

Furthermore, air conditioning isn't lowering the temperature of a system by the energy consumed. Rather, it acts like a heat pump which usually pumps more energy that is used. So 200 J/s of electric power running a typical AC unit

FWIW, Isp is measured in seconds and by multiplying it times gravity, you get the exhaust velocity. I believe this was done to more easily compare rocket efficiency regardless of units of gravity. It looks like you're doing this calcul

Energy stored in a capacitor is equal to: 1/2 * c * v^2 Where c is the capacitance in farads, and v is the voltage. That will produce a value of joules. Note that the capacitor is rated for a given voltage, so that goes in as v. Converting

I completely agree with this. If you write otherwise simple systems with the latest and greatest technologies, you will often be force to maintain them yourself. The original question was about career growth -- I've seen good developers get

Of course a developer isn't a testing environment. Developers don't cost a fixed $300. If there are differences between IE and (Chrome|Firefox|Opera), then it will require additional developer time. Just testing for those differences will r

He said that a testing environment costs $300. If developer time were free, then yes, he would have agreed that his argument is invalid. Developer time is rather valuable, especially when considering opportunity costs.
