One other interesting data point with charter schools (and most opt-in schools) is they (usually) have the ability to kick out misbehavers and not have to deal with as many LD kids. The public schools often have little mitigation with said

"At its core, Weight change is simple input/output math." But I also think that...at its core it's very complex. What if you do all of that input in a single large meal vs 6 smaller meals? That's a BIG difference.

"Spending time" doesn't actually mean you're really present though does it? Not trying to sound harsh, but it's something I've examined a lot in my family relations as well. It reminds me of the dads at the p

While I admire the guys's perseverance, I can't help but have the reaction of "wow that is selfish". If you're working that much (for that long) it sounds like you have very little family life.

What's wrong with 9 to 5ing, learning more, and doing your own thing on your own time for a while. There's NOTHING wrong with that. Don't buy into the romantic notion that you have to give 110% to your startup or it's

"this pragmatism produces elegant solutions" I disagree. I think the pragmatism encourages one to "be clever" and just "get it done". Often this is not elegant.

I would suggest if you're simply looking at VC firms as a means to get financial capital you're ignoring a large amount of what they can do for you.

Agreed. The khan academy and similar solutions are good for pupils who are engaged and will act as their own advocates; however, a significant number don't respond as well to that currently.

Sure...and part of it is that to do things well there's (generally) not a one-size fits all solution. Unfortunately that's what most americans are geared towards. To get a multitude of solutions is typically more costly. Spot on

They need _way_ more socioeconomic support. Social workers, counselors (completely underfunded), administration, and teachers. It _is_ a hard knock life.
