Their status page is not very helpful because they just link to a tracker that is also returning a 503. Does anyone know what's going on under the hood?

For me, this is one of the core tests for true AI. Can a machine discover and communicate logical structures/relationships that humans have never seen before? That is when I will actually be scared.

Removing these proprietary parts can actually be a lot of work or potentially impossible without a major refractor, especially if they're foundational to gameplay, like a physics engine.

This would be a more productive comment if you could explain why you have this opinion.

My math PhD has helped me be a better programmer in several ways. The first is in terms of reasoning above the behavior of complex systems, which mathematical domains and programs are both instances of. Another is in terms of problem solvin

It definitely often feels like the value capitalism places on certain skillsets is out of sync with the true intrinsic societal value. It ultimately boils down to the law of supply and demand, a brutally unemotional, uncaring concept.

A tree is a subtype of graph. However, a DAG is not a tree if it has cycles once you forget direction, meaning paths can join up again after splitting. This distinction matters because when different paths "join up" again, there i

I think what will happen is that there effectively be an arms race between the bot generation and detection sides. As anomalies are discovered in the distribution of content generated by bots vs humans, bots will update to remove the anomal

I dislike the proliferation of this word. "Safe" has started to mean "free from critical commentary" in a lot of contexts. It's hampering objective discourse all over the place.

...this...has to be a troll right? The guy helped bring space flight out of a stagnant era into commercial viability and put electric cars into the world's popular psyche.

I also counted 4 errors in the sentence, not 3. "no help" should be "any help". This might just be conventionally wrong, not technically wrong I suppose.

If you aren't allowed to operate in a logical system with a concrete definition of "size", then you can't say things like "doesn't actually prove two infinite sets have different sizes". So the whole debat

> They aren’t actually different sizes, though. What's your precise definition of size that allows someone to actually make a rigorous argument comparing the size of any two sets?

Mathematicians consider two sets to be of the same size or more precisely "cardinality", if it is possible to construct a 1-1 map of elements from the first set to the second set. These maps can obviously be constructed for sets w

There are two primary types of corn: field corn and sweet corn. Only sweet corn can be eaten raw or lightly cooked, but field corn can be turned into edible products (e.g. cereal) with some standard processing.

If you take into account player behavior dynamics, then I think path to a state becomes more important. I.e. "what my opponent thinks I'm trying to do" becomes important information to keep track of. Maybe not the case with c

The real numbers (everything on the number line, including things like 1, 0, 4/237, and pi) and the integers have no such correspondence. The reals are an "uncountable" infinity.

The problem with measuring the "harm" of something like AI vs e.g. lead is that with lead there are direct first order chemical harmful effects that are indisputable. With AI, any harm will get expressed via complex social dynamic

The problem with any standardized test is that it can be gamed with enough practice/resources that poor people are way less likely to be able to access. So it's not a cure-all, there are tradeoffs.
